Family Focus: beauty on a budget
Being pretty doesn't have to be a pain in your wallet.
When it comes to products, there are plenty of higher end and more cost effective choices than you probably realize.
"We offer over 20 thousand products from over 500 brands so it can be very confusing and hard to navigate, especially if you're new to make-up", said Amber Whitley, the Associate Manager at Ulta Beauty in Macon.
To cut the confusion, we caught up with the beauty expert and she said a little can go a long way when it comes to make-up, especially primer, bronzer and lip stick.
Those core products can add a little bit of glam to your day and depending on how much you want to spend, you have some options.
Primer helps smooth skin, minimize pores and keeps your make-up in place longer, although you can easily wear it without foundation, too.
"So this product is our Ulta beauty collection matte primer", explained Whitley.
It comes in at $18, but if you have a few extra bucks,
"The Smashbox primer, the smash box photo finish primer, pore minimizing version, this is another great primer. This primer completely minimizes the appearance of pores, it cuts out oliness, it mattifies for up to 8 hours so it last a really long last product" said Whitley. "The retail price is $39".
Moving on with Physicians Formula bronzer to give your skin that healthy glow for $14.99.
I asked, "Why should you wear bronzer"? Whitley answered, "Bronzer will warm up your complexion, it also helps you even out a little complexion issues, It's just a really nice look for summer even if you don't like to wear a lot of makeup, a little bit of bronzer goes a long way".
For $30 you can get a bronzer by Two Faced without the shimmer.
You can also use it for contouring and smell like a piece of candy in the process.
"It's a matte bronzer and it's infused with antioxidents made of rich cocoa powder which helps to even out the skin tone and gives it a wonderful chocolately smell as well", said Whitley.
Who doesn't like chocolate?
Finally, bring the look all together with some lip stick. NYX is quite an affordable lip cream; it costs $6.99 and it comes in some pretty unique colors.
"you'll see a lot of blues and purples and brights, lips, especially matte lips are really trendy right now and browns are also still in style as well so you'll find a lot of different colors that people are wearing lately", said Whitley.
But if you want to splurge on lips,
"It's flying off the shelves, smudge resistant, water resistant one swipe color", said Whitley.
Anastasia of Beverly Hills with cost you $20.
So if you want to spruce up your look without emptying your purse, keep in mind a little primer, bronzer and lip stick can take you a long way with plenty of price points to stay cost effective.
