Wrestling legend George 'The Animal' Steele dead at 79

The man known as "one of the wildest and most unpredictable" superstars of the wrestling world has passed.

According to the WWE, hall of famer William James Myers, who was known to fans as George "The Animal" Steele, passed away at 79.

TMZ Sports reports died Thursday evening after experiencing kidney failure.

His wife told the entertainment sports website he was frequently admitted to hospice care since 2016.

A cause of death is yet to be determined.

According to Rolling Stone, Steele retired in 1988 because of his problems with Crohn's disease; his colon was reportedly removed in 2002.

He briefly came out of retirement in 1998, making appearances for WCW and TNA.

The wrestling community quickly expressed their condolences, honoring the entertainer's life.
