MACON, Ga.- The Steward Chapel AME Church celebrated the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s passing.

The 153-year old church was full of song and praise for the civil rights activist.

Church leaders said they wanted to honor the Civil Rights leader who spoke to their congregation many years ago.

Gwenette Westbrooks is the president of the Macon NAACP branch, and she said she was honored to speak in memory of Dr. King.

"He was assassinated, hut his dream still lives on. So we wanted to do this in commemoration to remember him," Westbrooks said.

Church leaders said they will not let the memory of Dr. King be forgotten.
