9-year-old shot while sleeping after party ends in gunfire at Perry home; suspect wanted
PERRY, Ga. -- A 9-year-old boy was injured in a shooting that took place in the early hours of Monday morning in Perry.
Capt. Heath Dykes of the Perry Police Department said that at about 5:00 Monday morning the department received a call of shots fired at a residence on Gaines Drive.
When officers arrived, Dykes said they discovered that there was a party going on at the home and that two people got into an altercation and exchanged gunfire.
Dykes said the 9-year-old was asleep in a nearby home and was shot in the foot during the altercation. He said that several cars were also damaged in the shooting.
He said that officers interviewed several witnesses at the scene and were able to identify the people they believe to be responsible for the shooting.
Shykeem Mays, 18, and Ronterious Napier, 25, were both arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.
Authorities are still searching for a third person they believe to have been a party to the shooting--Rashad Walker, 26.
