Arrest made in September shootout at Macon apartment complex
MACON, Ga -- An arrest has been made from a September 30th shooting at the Cherry Tree Hill Apartments in East Macon.
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force, Bibb Sheriff's deputies have arrested Tommy Lewis Dumas Jr., 24, of Macon on charges of aggravated assault.
Investigators say that back on September 30th just after 12:30 p.m., deputies responded to the Coliseum Medical Center in response to a man who came into the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds.
While being treated by medical staff, Dumas reported that he had been shot while the apartment of his ex-girlfriend. However, deputies say he allegedly forced his way into the apartment armed with an assault rifle and began firing.
Another man reported to be a friend of the ex-girlfriend was also in the apartment and grabbed his handgun, firing shots at Dumas, hitting him twice.
Dumas reportedly ran out of the apartment and had another person drive him to the hospital.
No other arrests have been made at this time.
