Bibb County Sheriff's Office responds to shoplifting at Family Dollar
MACON, Ga. -- The Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to a shoplifting incident at the Family Dollar located at 800 Pio Nono Ave. on Monday, Jan. 8.
According to a report from the sheriff's office, when the responding deputy arrived, he came into contact with a man named Dennis Hollingshed wearing an army fatigue jacket and khaki pants.
The report states that this was the description given out over dispatch of the suspect hiding items in his clothes.
When the deputy came into contact with Hollinghsed, he pointed in the opposite direction and said, "He went that way stealing stuff!"
According to the report, the deputy immediately took the suspect into custody and requested that another deputy respond while he spoke to the store manager.
The store manager told the deputy that he saw Hollingshed taking items and hiding them in his clothes. After witnessing this, the store manager told deputies that he went up to Hollingshed and his unknown acquaintance and asked them to put everything back.
The store manager said that while the two men began taking the stolen items out of their pockets, another employee called 911.
At this point Hollingshed's acquaintance left the store.
The report confirms that one of the deputies searched Hollingshed and found more items that had been stolen from Family Dollar.
The sheriff's office was able to take Hollingshed to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without incident.
