Bibb Sheriff's Office donates $35,000 in seized illegal gambling money to local groups
MACON, Ga. -- Several community groups now have some more money to keep improving their services.
On Thursday, Bibb County Sheriff David Davis handed out checks to six community organizations. The money was confiscated from a coin operated gaming settlement stemming from illegal gambling violations.
Davis said the sheriff's office realizes that not just deputies make a great impact on the community.
"None of us can do this alone," he said. "We need help and these organizations in some form or fashion touch just about everybody in the community."
Bibb County Schools got $10,000, Street to Success, Motivating Youth Foundation, Central Georgia Boy Scouts of America, Macon Regional Crimestoppers and Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia all got $5,000 each, making a total of $35,000 donated.
