Bleckley County detention officer arrested and charged with sexual assault
BLECKLEY COUNTY, Ga. -- According to a release from the Bleckley County Sheriff's Office, a former Bleckley County Sheriff's Office detention officer was arrested on Monday, Dec. 4 after an investigation by the GBI following allegations of touching a female inmate.
The release states that the former officer, 62-year-old David Strong, was placed on administrative leave when Bleckley County Sheriff Kris Coody was notified on Nov. 17 of the incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was also notified on Nov. 17 of the allegations and requested that an investigation begin.
The release states that the former officer was terminated on Friday, Dec. 1.
The release confirms that Strong was arrested and charged with violation of oath of office by a public official and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.
Strong turned himself into the Bleckley County law enforcement center and was processed and then released on bond.
