Bombardier Commercial Aircraft to close Macon facility, layoff all 89 employees
MACON, Ga. -- Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Customer Services will close its Macon facility at the end of the year.
The company says this will include the layoff of the facility's 89 employees.
Annabelle Duchesne, a spokesperson for Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, said the decision to close the facility stems from the plan to consolidate the company's East Coast operations and transfer maintenance work to its facility in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
"We know that the outcome of our decision, is not only difficult for those employees, but also for their family members and colleagues," Duchesne said in a statement. "While we are transferring the work from Macon to WVAC, we are also working to provide our employees with the resources to help them through this transition."
According to Duchesne, the transfer will occur during the last quarter of 2017.
