BSO investigating Family Dollar burglary, searching for suspect

MACON, Ga. -- The Bibb Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a suspect in a burglary that happened at the Family Dollar located at 2123 Pio Nono Ave. on Sunday, March 11.

A sheriff's office report says that the responding deputy found that the glass to the front door was on the ground and that the door had been cracked open.

A store employee and the deputy watched surveillance footage, which showed a man wearing a black stocking hat, blue jean jacket, off-white shirt, gray pants and black shoes approaching the front doors.

The footage also shows the man trying to break in by throwing rocks or concrete into the Plexiglas repeatedly, then using a pry bar in an attempt to get the Plexiglas loose.

According to the report, the suspect was able to pull out the Plexiglas and enter the store, before going behind the register to take cigarette lighters. The surveillance footage also shows the suspect putting sunglasses, clothing, drinks and toilet paper into a cart and walking out the door.
