Consignment sale good alternative to no tax-free weekend
PERRY, Ga -- Each year, many people drive over an hour and a half and even over state lines to come to the Tykes, Tots, and Teens Consignment Sale in Perry.
This year, organizers say they are expecting over 1,500 people to attend, and the numbers may be even bigger because there was no annual tax free weekend.
On Friday morning, parents had their baskets filled to the brim. All items were one-third retail price, which is helpful to parents that need to buy items like strollers and cribs.
It makes sense that parents are looking to save money. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, on average it costs upwards of $230,000 to raise a child from infancy through the age of 17. That is about $14,000 dollars spent on a child annually.
The sale is at the Georgia National Fairgrounds through Sunday, August 13th.
