Dr. Luke Wood speaks to Middle Georgia about black education
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- A nationally known professor spoke to Middle Georgia teachers and students about education in the black community on Friday.
Doctor Luke Wood specializes in understanding how to help young black people succeed in school. He's talked about the subject on many national news platforms and brought his message to Georgia College and State University.
Faculty, staff and students listened to Dr. Wood about ways to help black students reach higher levels of education.
"What I wanted them to get out of it was that there are strategies and practices that work and we can change the current conditions that we see in education but we have to be engaged and care to do so," Wood said.
Wood is hosting another lecture Friday evening on the GCSU campus.
