Forsyth planning to implement self-guided cemetery tours
FORSYTH, Ga. -- The midstate city of Forsyth is currently planning to create a new self-guided cemetery tour.
Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson announced a $2,000 Georgia humanities grant this week, which will pay for the tours.
Officials said the tour will help tell the city's story through historical figures, while also inspiring its future.
Ralph Bass, President of the Monroe County Historical Society, said, "We want them to have a greater appreciation for the people who helped to make Monroe County. Here in the particular center we have a wide variety of persons who one way or another contributed to the history of Monroe County."
The cemetery tour is a joint project of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Monroe County Historical Society and Backlot Players.
