Georgia Southern cancels classes until Monday due to Irma
STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southern University officials announced Wednesday that classes on the campus will be cancelled through the end of the week due to Hurricane Irma.
According to an email from Jennifer Wise, the university's director of communicatons, university administrators and safety personnel assessed the condition of campus following the storm. Based on that assessment, officials made the decision to delay re-opening of the campus.
Wise said that classes will resume on Monday, Sept. 18, though the campus will open, normal business operations and Georgia Southern sponsored events will resume and the Coastal Georgia Center will open on Friday, Sept. 15.
The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center will open on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Students can return to their residence halls on campus after noon on Friday, Sept. 15.
