Houston Co. wheelchair team to go up against Macon Mayhem for fundraiser
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Houston County Sharks, a wheelchair sports team, will be participating in a fundraiser with the Macon Mayhem hockey team on April 3.
The event will aim to raise money for the sharks to keep playing.
Head coach Christy Jones said that the players learn a lot about themselves once they join the team.
"It increases their independence from their parents, it increases their self esteem, their confidence. We've just seen huge strides in even grades in school," she said.
The exhibition game starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday night at Veterans High School in Kathleen. Tickets are five dollars at the door.
