Human remains found near abandoned home Macon
MACON, Ga. -- Human remains were found Thursday on Bloomfield Drive in Macon.
A heavy sheriff's office presence was outside of an abandoned home on Clark Street early Thursday afternoon in response to the discovery.
Lt. Randy Gonzalez with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the remains were found and called in by someone working with a tree service in the area around 11:30 a.m.
Coroner Leon Jones said the remains are from a male and that the body had been in the area for some time.
He also said that at this point there is no way to tell how and when the man died because the heat makes the body decompose at a faster rate.
The body was clothed in a shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes with white soles.
The remains were taken to the GBI Crime Lab.
At this time, there is no more information available about the identity of the remains found.
