Macon-Bibb forming committee for health care, retirement benefits
MACON, Ga. -- Macon-Bibb officials said at Tuesday's commission meeting that it will work to create a Health Care and Retirement Benefits Committee.
That committee will then work to evaluate and make recommendations for retirement plan options.
The recent increase in health care cost has created change for Macon-Bibb employees.
The Committee will consist of 13 people. Here is the breakdown:
Also at Tuesday's meeting, the board of elections said it would cost the county about $25,000 for a special election in May to fill Gary Bechtel's District 1 seat. Bechtel resigned last week.
The BOE will make the final decision on when to hold the election. However, they say they won't hold the vote in May unless Bibb covers the cost.
"We have money issues already," commissioner Elaine Lucas said.
