Macon-Bibb pays tribute to those lost in 9/11
MACON, Ga. -- Macon-Bibb County paid tribute to those lost during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on Friday.
County officials placed a wreath to honor the victims as well as members of the Macon-Bibb Sheriff's Office and Fire Department who died in the line of duty.
Fire Chief Marvin Riggins said they made a vow to honor the fallen.
"So many public safety officers lost their lives trying to save those who were in harm's way and we made a promise that we would never forget the sacrifices that they made, along with the men and women that sacrificed their lives holistically in the line of duty here in Middle Georgia," Riggins said. "So we certainly have aimed to uphold our end of the promise to not forget them so we commemorate that."
This is the sixth year Macon-Bibb has held the memorial service.
