Macon intersection closed after accident takes down traffic lights

A traffic light was taken down in an accident Tuesday morning in Macon / Ronshad Berry (WGXA)

MACON, Ga. -- An accident took down a set of traffic lights in Macon Tuesday morning, causing disruption for drivers in the area.

The accident happened at the intersection of Ocmulgee East Blvd and Jeffersonville Road.

According to Macon-Bibb County Facilities and Management, crews were brought on scene to restore the lights at the intersection that were taken down, but that they are expected to be working for about six hours.

As of about noon Tuesday, the intersection is blocked off while crews work.

WGXA has reached out to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office for more information about the accident.
