Macon joins National Night Out festivities
MACON, Ga. -- National Night Out events in Macon kicked off at the historic Terminal Station on Tuesday.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office asks residents to turn on their porch lights Tuesday evening and join people nationwide in locking their doors and spending the evening outside with neighbors, deputies, firefighters and local leaders.
"Our relationship with the community is crucial," said Cpt. George Medows with the sheriff's office. "Without the community we can not protect the community. It's just that simple. We need all the eyes and ears we can get. We need to call Crimestoppers. We need neighborhood watch. Business watch members. All these people are our partners in the fight against crime in Macon-Bibb county."
America's Night Out Against Crime began in 1984.
