Macon man accused of killing daughter, shooting wife on Mother's Day denied bond

MACON, Ga. -- A man accused of killing his daughter and shooting his wife on Mother's Day was denied bond Monday.

Authorities say Benny Bell, 67, shot his wife, Thelma Bell, 65, in the stomach as she tried to wrestle a gun away from him during an altercation between him and his daughter, Demetrice Bell, 37.

Demetrice Bell was shot in the chest during the struggle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Thelma Bell was taken to the hospital.

Benny Bell has been charged with one count of murder family violence and one count of aggravated assault family violence.
