MACON, Ga. -- Bowden Golf Course is soon going to have a new look, manager Brandon Doles says.

The course on Millerfield Rd. in Macon recently received a $340,000 SPLOST grant to make some major renovations.

While golfers can still play the back-nine this week as the front-nine renovations have begun, the entire course is closing at the end of this week for complete renovations. Doles says he hopes to open back up by the end of May.

Renovations include completely re-working some tees and greens -- leveling them out, resurfacing sand -- as well as planting new grass. Doles says by the time all renovations are complete, the course will look much different -- and better.

The main reason for the renovations is an attempt to make the course profitable again. The course hopes to bring in more tournaments, players, etc. after the new renovations.
