Main Street Macon welcomes new lunch spot to downtown Macon
MACON, Ga. -- The Green Plate Salad and Sandwich Shoppe is now a staple of downtown Macon after Main Street Macon hosted a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Maconites now have healthy options for lunch such as made-to-order wraps, soups and salads.
Shameika Tolber and her brother Andreau Adside opened The Green Plate in September 2017.
“We decided to open The Green Plate to give Maconites an opportunity to focus on healthy eating,” said Tolber. “Andreau and I recognized the revitalization of Macon’s historic downtown and wanted to be a part of that growth.”
Andreau Adside is also the co-owner of Ambitious Graphics, a custom T-shirt shop on Poplar St.
“We decided to open The Green Plate because we wanted to give downtown-goers another lunch option,” said Adside. “I work downtown everyday and eat lunch at downtown restaurants frequently. I realized there weren’t many options when I wanted something lite. My sister and I saw an opportunity to add a sandwich, wrap, and salad shop and The Green Plate was born.”
The Green Plate is located at 440 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Suite 103 in the Technicon Building. It is open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and has a full catering menu as well as delivery.
