Man arrested after chase with Dooly, Crisp deputies
CRISP COUNTY, GA. -- A man is in custody after leading deputies on a chase from Dooly County to Crisp County Wednesday afternoon.
Jamie D. Brown, 33, of Crisp County faces charges in both counties for reportedly driving recklessly through the streets.
According to a release from the Crisp County Sheriff's Office, Dooly deputies advised they were chasing a green Dodge Dakota pickup with no tags.
The vehicle then entered Cordele. Brown reportedly ran multiple stop signs and sped through the city.
Crisp deputies joined the chase at the intersection of 13th St. and 15th Ave.
The vehicle then turned onto 21st Ave. and slowed to let a passenger out.
Then, deputies closed the truck in. Brown allegedly jumped from the truck and fled on foot. He was taken into custody by a Cordele Police Officer. The officer was not injured.
Brown was transported to the Dooly County Jail to face charges and will also face charges in Crisp County.
It was reported that when Brown jumped from the truck, he left it in gear. As a result, the truck continued to roll and it struck a Crisp County Sheriff's Office vehicle. The unit sustained minimal damage.
The passenger turn his or herself in and will not face charges.
