Teen shot while exchanging gunfire with man in Macon

A man was shot Thursday afternoon at Houston Avenue and Grenada Terrace in Macon / Brittany Collins (WGXA)

MACON, Ga. -- A 17-year-old was shot Thursday afternoon in Macon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, they received a call of two men shooting back and forth in the street at Houston Avenue and San Juan Avenue at around 1:30 p.m.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old Dominick Howell Sr. was at a home on Villa Crest Avenue when the 17-year-old confronted him and an altercation began.

Howell attempted to leave the location in his car when someone fired several shots into the vehicle. Howell left the area but later returned to Houston Grocery Mart.

Howell then reportedly noticed the teen walking down the street and fired several shots at him, hitting him in the leg.

Howard was arrested and the teen sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
