MACON, Ga. -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Navicent Health and Mayor Robert Reichert are doing their part to help.

On Friday, Reichert presented the proclamation making the day Wear Pink Day for breast cancer and all that it affects.

Survivor Janice Foote said she has redefined her fight with the disease.

"I'm a thriver," she said. "I believe in making life work for me. I learned not to put everything in the bucket list and leave it there, but to empty the pail because once I start emptying that pail I have started living again and thus I am a thriver."

The Susan G. Komen Central Georgia Race for the Cure will take place Saturday in downtown Macon. For information on road closures, click here.
