Memorial created for boy killed in accident at High Falls State Park
FORSYTH, Ga. -- A small memorial has cropped up at High Falls State Park for a 12-year-old boy who died there on Tuesday.
Christian Burdette died after he and his older brother, James Burdette, were swept over a waterfall at the park. James Burdette was rescued by helicopter following the accident.
Michael Newberry, who said he goes to the Burdette's church, stopped by the memorial on Wednesday morning to pay respects. He said Christian was a fun loving kid who would frequent the park and ride his dirt bike.
Newberry said everyone who knew Christian loved him and that the community is devastated by his loss.
He said he hopes that barricades will be erected around the waterfall where the accident happened so that no one will ever experience a similar loss.
