Music festival benefits local animal shelters

A music festival benefiting local animal shelters is happening this weekend.

"Give Me Shelter"" is taking place at Georgia Bob's BBQ on Howland Avenue in Warner Robins on Saturday, February 18th.

Workers and volunteers from Jones County, Macon-Bibb County, Monroe County, Warner Robins and Friends of Perry animal shelters will be in attendance.

Shane Smith, the event director, travels across the country every year to encourage adoption and prevent euthanasia.

"What we've done is tried to get the local shelters, the county shelters, to do a joint event where we bring the staffs of these places to an outside location where the public can come and talk to them, get to know them, donate to them.", said Smith.

There will be live music, food and drink specials and a place for donations for each shelter.

"If these shelters all get at least one good volunteer out of it through the day, it's a success.", said Smith.

The event is free to the public and will last from noon until 10 p.m.
