One arrested in Macon theft and chase, two suspects still wanted
MACON, Ga. -- Just hours after two men allegedly stole iPhones from a Macon store and then led authorities on a chase into Bolingbroke, one of those men was taken into custody.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Jalen Trevon Ector, 22, of Atlanta, was arrested at about 8 p.m. Monday night near the Bolingbroke exit of I-475.
This comes after two iPhones were stolen from the Cricket Wireless on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon. After the theft, the suspects reportedly got into a silver vehicle and took off.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted a silver vehicle fitting the description of the one used in the theft on I-475 near Zebulon Road at around 8 p.m. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but it didn't stop.
The chase ended at the Bolingbroke exit and two men got out of the vehicle and ran away. A third passenger--Ector--was arrested.
A lookout is still in place on the remaining two suspects. One is described as a black male dressed as a female and was last seen wearing a red wig and a black t-shirt. He is also described as being a large person and having facial hair.
The second suspect is described as a black male last seen wearing a black shirt and a black cap.
Ector was charged with theft by receiving stolen property and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers. His bond was set at $5,350.
