Parents and kids braved freezing temperatures Thursday morning as they headed off to school.

Morning temperatures broke a record more than 100 years old as temperatures fell below 26 degrees.

WGXA spoke with parents about how they prepared their kids for the bus stop and their chilly trip to school.

"He's the kid that won't wear a thick jacket, he won't wear a long sleeve shirt so it's a typical routine every morning.", said Wendy Claxton, a Springdale Elementary School parent.

"Oh no, they put their jackets on. They know it's cold so they know they had to get ready.", said Jory Newman, another parent.

Whatever the struggle, all of the parents we spoke with said they, and their kids, are looking forward to warmer temperatures next week.
