Passenger dies after driver allegedly leads authorities on chase, crashes in Milledgeville
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- A person died Wednesday after a vehicle he was in led authorities on a chase and then crashing head-on into another vehicle in Milledgeville.
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), a gold sedan took off after a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The trooper chased the car from North Jefferson Street onto Dunlap road, at which time the sedan began to travel west.
Information received by GSP indicates that the sedan then attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone when it entered the path of a pickup truck traveling east.
The sedan and the pickup truck collided head-on, causing damage to both vehicles and injury to both of the occupants of the sedan and the driver of the pickup truck.
The driver of the sedan, Carl Barnard Justice, 23, and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to Navicent Hospital in Milledgeville and the passenger in the sedan, Taboris Macell Wright, 25, was airlifted to a Macon hospital where he later died.
According to GSP, charges are pending in this incident and the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation.
