UPDATE: Help identify the pedestrian hit and killed in West Macon
MACON, GA -- Bibb Sheriff's deputies and the coroner's office is working to identify a man who was hit and killed early Monday morning in West Macon. According to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones, the victim was attempting to cross Pio Nono Ave. near the Krispy Kreme Restaurant at Hightower Rd. just after 7 a.m. before he was hit by a passing car in the southbound lane. Witnesses reported seeing the man simply walk out into traffic while wearing dark clothing. Jones adds that the man may be homeless.Coroner Jones said that the victim is about 5'8" tall and weighed 160 pounds. According to Jones, the victim has a gray mustache and goatee, as well as a tattoo of a large rose on his shoulder and a tattoo of a woman on his upper arm.The name of the pedestrian will be released once next of kin is notified. The accident is currently being investigated and no charges have been filed against the driver.
