Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirms that 61-year-old Frank Pittman Jr. was struck and killed Wednesday night near the 2200 block of Gray Highway.

Howard said the driver stayed on scene and called 911.
Pittman was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., according to Miley.
Miley said it's unclear if he was attempting to cross the highway or was just walking along the highway.
There are no crosswalks in that area. Howard advised that pedestrians always stay in well lit areas.
