Plant Branch has it's last blast
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga -- Early Saturday morning Georgia Power had its third controlled blast to demolish the coal hoppers. This was the third and final blast, they have demolished the coal stacks, the boilers, and the coal hoppers.
Georgia Power Spokesperson Holly Crawford said that the rest of the plant will be demolished with cranes and bulldozers. Georgia Power is keeping the land and will decide what to do with it next year.
Crawford said they teamed up with the Department of Natural Resources and Georgia Department of Transportation, to keep everyone in the area safe and to keep pollution to a minimum.
