Police: Man with 2 warrants runs from officers, tased

MACON, Ga. - A man is in jail after trying to run from police following a traffic stop in Macon.

DeQuendre Stewart, 32, is in Bibb County Jail on two outstanding warrants and a charge of willful obstruction of law enforcement.

According to a police, Wednesday around 10:20 p.m., officers noticed a car stopped in a known drug area next to M&M Grocery store. The car then took off down Pansy Road towards Mercer University Dr. and started swerving all over the road, at which time officers made a traffic stop.

According to the report, the passenger Stewart got out of the car and started running towards Kitchen Pride. Police caught up, tased Stewart and arrested him.

A check showed Stewart had two outstanding warrants and he was taken to Bibb County LEC.
