Porter Elementary giving tree helps children in need
MACON, Ga. -- Students at Porter Elementary are helping others through their giving tree.
A student can pull an ornament and it gives the age and sex of a child and what they'd like. Each ornament represents a classmate or classmate's sibling in need.
It takes the community," said Peggy Crumbley, Giving Tree Organizer. "It takes everyone. It's not just one or two people. It absolutely takes everybody in the community."
It's a tradition that dates back eight years at the school. Past students and their families, including some that were helped by the giving tree, return to pitch in each year.
