Second suspect sought in Tennille 'gun battle' between homeowner and intruder
TENNILLE, Ga. -- Tennille Police are searching for a second suspect in last week's attempted robbery-turned-shooting at a man's home.
According to a release from Chief Joel Cochran, 23-year-old Quinton Dewan Ritter of Sandersville is wanted on aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charges stemming for Thursday's "gun battle" on W. Adams St.
Ritter is considered armed and dangerous, according to Cochran.
It was originally reported that 65-year-old heard a noise in his backyard and found a male suspect breaking into his vehicle just before 7 p.m. Thursday.
Carter confronted the alleged would-be robber, identified as Thomas Canty Jr., and a "gun battle" ensued, according to Cochran. Carter was shot in both legs. Canty also suffered non-life threatening injuries from the shooting.
Canty faces charges of second degree burglary, criminal trespass, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
