Seven charged following Vidalia drug bust
VIDALIA, Ga. -- Seven people were arrested in Vidalia on Wednesday following a drug bust at a local home.
The Vidalia Police Department executed a search warrant at a home on Clyde Blvd. on Sept. 9 during which they seized a large quantity of marijuana, prescription pills packaged for distribution and weapons.
The police department reports that the search warrant was the result of "an extensive investigation concerning the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics."
On Wednesday, James Douglas Shiver, Latisha Marie Collins, Samantha L. Edwards, Debra Whitley Collins, Conner D. McCoy, and Wayland Cody Waters and a 17-year-old were arrested.
The 17-year-old was charged with possession with intent to distribute Xanax, three counts of use of communication facility in facilitating a felony, sale of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes and three counts of sale of marijuana.
Shiver, 18, was charged with possession with intent to distribute Xanax, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.
Latisha Marie Collins, 39, was charged with party to a crime (possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute), party to a crime (possession of marijuana with intent to distribute) and possession of marijuana.
Edwards, 19, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Debra Whitley Collins, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana less than 1 oz. and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
McCoy, 19, and Waters, 18, were both charged with possession of marijuana less than 1 oz.
The Vidalia Police Department reports that more charges are expected as their investigation continues.
