BIBB COUNTY, Ga.-- The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the GBI and they are internally investigating a third deputy in connection with a report of a woman who said a deputy sexually assaulted her at Macon Inn on December 3, 2017.
Investigators now think another deputy, Douglas Taylor, had contact with the woman in the afternoon following her report of assault.
Thursday night sheriff's office investigators said on December 4th Deputy Douglas Taylor responded to a call that went out as a white male lying in the roadway, on Hill Street.
When Deputy Taylor and EMS arrived at the scene, it was discovered that it was a female lying in the roadway. This encounter took place on December 4, 2017 at around 3:14p.m.
Preliminary information indicates that she mentioned the assault to the deputy, but stated that she reported it earlier that morning.
The victim attempted to hand over possible evidence, related to the assault incident, but the deputy did not take it, according to the sheriff's office.
The victim left with EMS and was transported to a local hospital.
Deputy Douglas Taylor is currently being suspended with pay, pending investigation. If the Internal Affairs outcome reveals improper conduct, appropriate sanctions will be taken.
Prior to Deputy Taylor's suspension, Deputies James Stiles and Tabitha Costello had been suspended with pay. According to the sheriff's office Deputy Stiles is still suspended with pay although Deputy Costello has since returned to work.
