Two educators on leave after alleged incident at Heritage Elem., BSO investigating
MACON, Ga. -- A Bibb County teacher and paraprofessional are on administrative leave after an alleged incident at Heritage Elementary School.
According to Stephanie Hartley with the Bibb County School District, a parent approached administrators about bumps on her 7-year-old son's head on Nov. 8.
Social workers notified the Division of Family and Child Services. According to Lt. Gonzalez with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, DFCS notified the Crimes Against Children Investigations on Nov. 13.
Gonzalez said it was reported that a teacher allegedly struck the boy in the head with an "object," leaving the bumps. The sheriff's office is still investigating.
According to Hartley, the student was in a special needs classroom.
Heritage Elementary Principal Jennifer Askew sent a letter home with students Wednesday so parents knew about the incident.
The teacher is on administrative leave with pay and the paraprofessional is on administrative leave, according to Hartley.
