Two men on the run after robbing Forsyth Rd. gas station, school on lock down
MACON, Ga. -- Two men are on the run after reportedly robbing a Forsyth Rd. gas station at gunpoint.
Sgt. Linda Howard with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, two men stole a cash register from the Exxon station at 4433 Forsyth Rd.
It was reported that two female store employees saw the men, dressed in black pants, black hoodies, white gloves and bandannas on their faces, approach the store from a wooded area from behind the store.
One woman then ran to the Jiffy Lube next door for help. The other woman attempted to shut the door, but the men wrestled it open, injuring the employee's hand in the process.
Jiffy Lube employee Zachary Herring said that saw the woman running for them calling for help. He and other employees ran toward the gas station and saw the two suspects running out away.
Howard said one man brandished a handgun during the struggle.
Herring said they began chasing the robbers but once they neared the woods, one man showed his gun and yelled that he would shoot the men if they kept chasing them.
One man reportedly ran into the store and grabbed the cash register while the other held the door. Both men then ran back into the woods with the register.
Both men are still on the run, according to Howard.
Becky Sessions, Head of School at Woodfield Academy on Rivoli Drive, said the school was placed on lock down after the robbery. The school is located behind the Exxon station. Parents were notified of the lock down via email.
