Woman accused of shooting Milledgeville man to death pleads not guilty
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- A woman accused of shooting a man to death in February appeared in court Friday, where she pleaded not guilty.
Levia Pace is accused of killing Kadeem Simon at a Milledgeville apartment complex on Feb. 27.
At the time of the shooting, authorities with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said that a resident of the Cedar Ridge Apartments walked into an apartment that night and found Simon with multiple gunshot wounds.
At Friday's arraignment, Capt. Brad King of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office was called as a witness. He said that after the shooting, Pace came to the sheriff's office, claimed rape by a friend, admitted to a shooting and told authorities there was a gun in her car.
However, King said that based on evidence investigators found in the apartment where Simon's body was found--including sex toys and a used condom--there didn't appear to be a struggle--just a shooting.
Pace is facing one count of murder for her alleged role in the shooting.
Ultimately, the judge at Friday's hearing said that there was probable cause that Pace committed the crime in the way that the warrant states to send the case to a grand jury to consider an indictment.
There was no talk of bond at Friday's hearing.
