Perry: City named fourth safest in Georgia
PERRY, Ga. -- Perry was named the fourth safest city in the state by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
Perry Police Chief Steve Lynn said his department can only take credit for so much because keeping Perry safe is a community wide effort.
"It's just reflective of the community here in Perry," Lynn said. "We've got a great community. We've got a great police department. All the guys and girls work really hard to get the job done to interact with the community."
Nearly 15,500 people live in Perry. Out of its overall crimes, the council said only 20 percent are violent, which is minuscule compared to the national average.
