Officers search 3 Atlanta business for illegal gambling, arrests pending
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The GBI's Commercial Gambling Unit and Atlanta PD executed search warrants Tuesday for three Atlanta businesses.
GBI says the businesses were in violation of the state's commercial gambling laws and multiple arrests are pending.
The businesses are:
- Citgo, 1885 Jonesboro Road, Atlanta
- Valero, 1989 Hosea Williams Dr., Atlanta
- Yarial Grocery, 500 James P. Brawley Dr., Atlanta
The search warrants were in cooperation with the Georgia Lottery Corporation and the Georgia Department of Revenue.
GBI says while searching the locations, agents collected evidence related to crimes of commercial gambling. They seized monetary assets gained from the illegal use of gaming machines.
All of the business locations are currently licensed to operate Coin Operated Amusement Machines, according to GBI. But during the investigation, agents discovered customers were receiving cash payouts for winning credits.
In Georgia, credits may only be redeemed for lottery tickets and/or store merchandise.
More than 30 officers launched the raids.
