Police: Man killed after claiming to have bomb inside Marietta Wells Fargo
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County authorities responded to a bomb threat at a Marietta bank Friday morning.
According to FOX5 Atlanta, a man claimed to have a bomb inside of a Wells Fargo bank at 2675 Windy Hill Road. That man was killed later, possibly by a tactical member.
SWAT, Bomb and K9 teams responded to the scene and are now sweeping the building for explosives. Officials received the call about the incident at about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
FOX5 Atlanta reported that the suspect claimed to be an Iraqi war veteran who is facing financial trouble.
Authorities negotiated with the man for hours to get employees out of the building. No one was injured.
Marietta is a suburb about 20 miles north of Atlanta.
