Student brings loaded gun to Georgia middle school
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- A student at a Georgia middle school has been arrested after he was found with a loaded gun.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Paulding County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ashley Henson says the weapon was discovered after the eighth-grader at Austin Middle School showed the semi-automatic handgun to another student, who alerted a school administrator on Wednesday.
Henson says it is unknown if the student had made any threats or intended to use the gun. His name has not been released.
He is being held at the Marietta Youth Detention Center. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
