MACON, GA -- Saturday could see the largest crowd ever on hand for a college football game at Five Star Stadium.

With Irma evacuees receiving free admission, the Bears expect a larger audience than normal when they meet #10 Wofford, one of the only teams Mercer has yet to defeat since joining the Southern Conference.

"We've played with Wofford the last two years," said Head Coach Bobby Lamb. "We've been right there. It's obviously a big game. It's the first conference game."

The Terriers have topped the Bears by a combined 11 points the last two seasons including a 34-33 overtime victory at Five Star Stadium in 2015. Mercer prepares for yet another high-octane option attack from Mike Ayers' club.

"They're very solid in what they do," Lamb said. "They have a system. They're going to live with the system and this is certainly a game we've been pointing towards for a while now. We know we have to play our best for four quarters to even have a chance."

The Bears got a warm up for the option attack in a 48-7 win over Jacksonville last week at home. Lamb says they're confident in their approach defensively.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
