Bobcats' Benson earns PBC Player of the Year honors

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA -- A year after Dylan Cook took home Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year honors, the award remains in Milledgeville for another year.

Georgia College infielder Brandon Benson was named the league's Player of the Year Tuesday night. Also a first-team selection, Benson paced the Bobcats with 21 home runs and 70 RBIs.

The senior started every game for the Bobcats this season who earned the #3 seed in the PBC Tournament.

The Bobcats placed six on the Peach Belt's postseason team including freshman Cal Weaver earning a first-team nod. Brandon Purcell, Logan Mattix, Grant Khan, and Wesley Wommack earned second-team league selections.

Georgia College takes on Flagler at 10 a.m. Wednesday in round one of the PBC Tournament at Francis Marion University.
