Former Mercer baseball coach Myers dead at 78

MACON, GA -- Former Mercer Head Baseball Coach Barry Myers died in his home Thursday.

Myers coached Mercer from 1978-2003, after succeeding Claude Smith, amassing 663 of his 852 career wins with the Bears. In his 26 seasons at Mercer, Myers led the Bears to three TAAC Tournament Championships earning coach of the year honors four times.

Thirteen players were selected in the MLB Draft during Myers tenure at Mercer.

Myers was a 2002 inductee of the Mercer Athletic Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Macon Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
