MILLEDGEVILLE, GA -- Coming into Jason Eller's first season at Georgia College, Cal Gentry was a big pickup for Bobcats Baseball.

Even with a strong high school career, not many would have predicted the third baseman to shine so bright in his freshman season in Milledgeville. Thursday, Gentry served as a volunteer coach at his alma mater Perry's first day of summer practice and reflected on his first full college baseball season.

"It was definitely fun," Gentry said. "I didn't think I was going to have the season like I did. It just kind of happened."

Gentry made a major name for himself on the DII baseball scene finishing fifth in the nation witha .441 batting average. Gentry earned a spot on the Freshman All-American Team as well as the First Team for the Peach Belt Conference. His first season was better than expected and credits his Bobcat brotherhood for the strong showing.

"It was actually more than great," Gentry said. "It was amazing. Just like how we have a family here, Georgia College kind of brought me into their family."

Gentry led the Bobcats in batting average, hits and on-base percentage leading Georgia College to a Peach Belt Conference Tournament Title.
